Everyone knows the mortgage market is in crisis - and that it's dragging down the rest of the economy. But what caused it? How can we get out of it? And how can homeowners - and potential buyers - in Minnesota protect themselves? Host Steve Seel talked with guests Richard Todd (from the Federal Reserve) and Star Tribune personal finance writer Kara McGuire, but you can continue the conversation. What advice would you give to others on home buying, selling, or financing? What paths can we take to correct the market?
Continuing The Current's celebration on Minnesota's 150th birthday this month, we've got an episode that's jam-packed with local music this time.
Overflowing with it, in fact; not three, not four, but five discs this week: Tapes n' Tapes "Walk It Off," Doomtree's "False Hopes," Dosh's "Wolves and Wishes," Cloud Cult's "Feel Good Ghosts (Tea Partying Through Tornadoes)," and Atmosphere, "When Life Gives You Lemons..."
Plus, in keeping with our local theme, we asked, "What's your favorite Replacements song, and why?" The Current's local music gurus Chris Roberts and Dave Campbell were my guests.

News & Features from The Current
What do a morel mushroom, a Lake Superior agate and a blueberry muffin have in common? They're all official state symbols for Minnesota, of course.
How do you convince people to move to your state? You come up with a clever marketing plan. And that's just what Minnesota did in the 1800s.
More Features from MPR
The vinyl record is undergoing somewhat of a resurgence in the Twin Cities music scene. More bands are putting their music out on vinyl, more consumers, especially younger ones, are choosing vinyl over compact discs.
